Matt Miller graduated Monterey High School where he was an All-State Pitcher in 1993. He went on to play for Texas Tech from 1994-1996 where he was selected to All-SWC and All-American teams and was also an Olympic Trials invitee. Miller’s name still covers the Texas Tech baseball pitching record book. In 1996, Miller was selected in the 2nd round of the MLB draft by the Detroit Tigers, and made his major league debut in 2001. He pitched six professional seasons in the Tigers organization and at the Major Leagues level in 2001 and 2002. Matt retired in 2002 as the result of a shoulder injury.
